History
Founded in 1972 by Jack McFadden and George Mershon as a fun event for their Marshalton Inn customers, the Marshalton Triathlon has grown to be one of the longest running and largest triathlons in the country. Local residents, businesses and the West Bradford Fire Company members work together to make this one of the best celebrated family events of the year in our region.
Rain or shine, the triathlon attracts numerous athletes, novice to the ironman, and their families. Participants race by bike, canoe and pace-walking along a ten mile course which winds through beautiful Chester County and along the Brandywine River, starting and ending in the Village of Marshalton in front of the Fire House.
Along the race route, families and friends gather to cheer on the competitors while enjoying music, food and community fun at the Fire House, the Four Dogs Tavern and the Marshalton Inn.
